In addition to its drainage function, the shape of the base pipe also makes it the foundation for the drainage wall. This application corresponds to the guideline drawing WAS 7 of the Federal/State Technical Committee. The properties of the base pipes are high water permeability and high compressive strength.

Base pipes are manufactured in fully and partially porous versions. In the fully porous base pipe, the entire circumference of the pipe consists of porous concrete. The partially porous base pipe has a dense flow base. The upper pipe wall is made of porous concrete.
